Aetna Board Of Directors Authorizes Additional Share Repurchases


HARTFORD, Conn., July 27, 2012 — The Board of Directors of Aetna Inc. (NYSE: AET) today authorized the company to repurchase up to an additional $750 million of its common stock from time to time. This authorization is in addition to the approximately $248 million of repurchase authority available under Aetna’s prior authorization as of June 30, 2012.

The company intends to continue buying shares in the open market from time to time.  At March 31, 2012, Aetna had approximately $828 million of repurchase authority available under its prior authorizations.
