Aetna Names David Healy General Manager Of Europe Region
LONDON, March 27, 2012 — Aetna (NYSE: AET), a leading global diversified health care benefits company, announced today that David Healy has been named general manager of the Europe region based in Dublin. In this new role, Healy is responsible for expanding the company’s international business in the region, which includes international health benefits for expatriates and health management solutions. This appointment is effective immediately. Healy, 45, joins Aetna from AEGON Ireland, the cross-border arm of AEGON, where he served as managing director for life, investment and variable annuity products in Europe. “We’re pleased that David is joining Aetna to expand our regional presence in Europe, which is a target market for Aetna,” said Sandip Patel, head of Aetna International. “With extensive industry expertise, David has a strong track record of building insurance business within continental Europe, the UK and Ireland. His oversight of the region will bring greater focus on Aetna’s solutions to both government and corporate clients in the areas of health insurance cover; wellness and productivity solutions; care management; and health care technology and analytics.” Healy’s insurance career began in 1987 with operational roles for Hibernia Life and Ark Life in Ireland. He joined J Rothschild International in 1993 to help launch its international operations from Ireland and subsequently oversaw the launch of life assurance products in Europe, South America and Asia. In 1995 Healy joined the cross-border life assurance company Scottish Equitable International, part of the AEGON Group, in Luxembourg at its start-up, becoming managing director in 1997. He was named to his most recent position in 2002 when he led the launch of AEGON Ireland. Healy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in insurance management from the University of Central England, and is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK.
